Liverpool transfer target Federico Chiesa has had his say on the Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes or Frank Lampard debate.

The Merseyside club have been quiet in Arne Slot's first transfer window as manager, as they remain the only Premier League side yet to make a senior signing ,despite a deal with Georgian keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili reportedly being close.

Reports yesterday emerged linking Liverpool with a move for Juventus winger Chiesa, who could be available in a cut-price deal this summer.

And now, an old clip of the 26-year-old answering the classic question of 'Gerrard, Scholes or Lampard?' has emerged.

While watching the May 2022 Serie A match between Juventus and Lazio, the Italian winger was asked to pick between the three players by YouTuber Thogden.

Responding to the question, he said: "Who would I rather have in my midfield? Stevie G."

With Gerrard viewed by Liverpool fans as a club icon, Chiesa's answer will be a relief to amid the increasing links between the Italian and the Merseyside club this summer.

Gerrard made over 700 for Liverpool, scoring 186 goals and leading his boyhood club to glory in the 2005 Champions League final.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have seemingly made an initial approach to sign Chiesa ahead of the summer transfer window closing on August 30.

The winger is said to be available for a cut-price deal having been left out of the squads for both og Juventus' matches in the Serie A this season.

Furthermore, he has reportedly emptied his locker at the Turin club's training base as he prepares to leave this summer.

Barcelona are said to also be interested in securing his signature, but Chiesa remains keen on a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool the most likely destination.

Romano later clarified that the asking price from Juventus is €15million, with contract negotiations with the player expected to be easy.

However, if the deal was to fall through, Liverpool are reportedly considering other options to strengthen their front line, with Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman also said to be on the shortlist.
