Liverpool's players have spoken out about the club's lack of signings during the first transfer window of the Arne Slot era.

The summer transfer window has been quiet for Liverpool, who remain the only club in the Premier League yet to sign a player.

The Merseyside club looked almost certain to secure the signature of impressive midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but the deal ultimately fell through after the Spaniard decided to stay with boyhood club Real Sociedad.

And with less than two weeks until the window closes on August 30, Liverpool's current players have made their feelings clear about the club's inactivity in the market.

Speaking after Saturday's victory over Ipswich Town, Andrew Robertson revealed how he and his teammates are currently feeling about the squad.

He said: "I think we have an unbelievably strong squad.

"You look at the bench today and even the lads who maybe didn't travel, we have a fantastic squad and the quality was shown a lot in the second half today.

"Certain positions are spoken about and things like that but I thought people were really good and stepped up to the plate. We have a lot of quality in every position and if that is the squad that we go forward with then I believe that is good enough to compete in the competitions we want to compete in.

"Everyone wants new signings - fans want new signings, people want new faces around the building - but I think the squad we have got just now is incredibly strong and if we don't make any signings, we're in a good shape to crack on for the rest of the season."

While Liverpool have failed to make any new signings this summer, several players have departed the club with the likes of Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara and Fabio Carvalho all leaving.

And most recently, it appears that veteran defender Joe Gomez could be set for a move away from the Reds, after he was left out of the matchday squad for the game against Ipswich.

Several Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the 27-year-old, with Newcastle United and Crystal Palace seemingly the most likely.
