Marc Guehi's move to Liverpool could fall through despite the Crystal Palace captain completing a medical ahead of the transfer.

After completing finally completing a British record signing for top target Alexander Isak in the early hours of the morning of deadline day, Liverpool quickly turned their attention to Guehi.

Despite featuring in all of Crystal Palace's games this season so far, the club captain has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the final weeks of the window.

Reports have claimed that the London club would only be willing to sanction a deal if they were able to organise a replacement for their key player, with several names linked.

All appeared to be well as a loan deal for Brighton's Igor Julio was set to be finalised, but it now appears that the Brazilian will not join Palace, putting Guehi's move to Liverpool at risk.

Following news that Igor had completed a medical ahead of his move to Crystal Palace this morning, Guehi was given the green light to also have a medical with Liverpool.

Hours later, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Guehi had completed this medical, but Igor's move falling through could mean that Oliver Glasner's side will hold on to Guehi this summer.

Igor instead will now carry out another medical ahead of a potential move to join London rivals West Ham United, with the 27-year-old preferring a move to join the Hammers due to assurances of playing time.

Palace will now turn their attention to finalising a deal for 19-year-old Toulouse centre back, who has completed a medical to join the club ahead of a deal reportedly worth £20.8m.

Serbia international defender Strahinja Pavlovic has also been linked with the Eagles, with Glasner viewing the 24-year-old AC Milan star as his ideal replacement for Guehi, however a deal will reportedly be difficult to complete ahead of the window closing at 7pm.

Regardless, it remains to be seen just how the news will impact Guehi's planned move to Liverpool, with a report from Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett claiming that Palace will not stop Guehi from completing the transfer.
