A second Liverpool star is in talks to leave the club on transfer deadline day with the £130 million arrival of Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, reports claim.
The Reds had been chasing Isak all summer but even with the Swede refusing to play for the club and issuing a statement claiming "broken promises", Newcastle remained adamant that their talisman would not be for sale.
But the saga is now set to conclude with Liverpool finally getting their man after they agreed a British-record fee with Newcastle for the former Real Sociedad man - who will also command a small solidarity payment.
Isak is poised to become Liverpool's ninth and most expensive signing in a window where they have brought in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Etikike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez.

Gomez could well join Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Doak, Jarell Quansah and Caoimhin Kelleher in leaving Anfield but there's word on another potential exit.
According to James Pearce from The Athletic, Aston Villa are exploring a move for midfielder Harvey Elliott - who could find first-team football hard to come by if Isak join the Reds.
The journalist claims the record-breaking capture of Isak will likely result in Elliott moving on should a "suitable proposal" arrive.
RB Leipzig made an approach for the England Under 21 international earlier this summer and it was reported that Liverpool's conditions for a deal were £40 million as well as a buy-back option - or alternatively £50 million without the clause.

At this late stage, with Villa having to comply with UEFA financial restrictions, a loan deal would appear more likely than a permanent sale.
Unai Emery's side have only signed striker Evann Guessand and goalkeeper Marco Bizot so far but look to be agreeing deals for Jadon Sancho and Victor Lindelof after a disappointing start to the season.
Elliott, Player of the Tournament for England's Under 21s as they went all the way in the summer, was a popular player under Jurgen Klopp but his minutes reduced significantly under Arne Slot.
He has made 147 appearances and won six trophies since joining from Fulham in 2019.
