Footage of Jurgen Klopp’s honest perception of Fenway Sports Group has gone viral after the club missed out on Leny Yoro to Manchester United.

United have completed a move for French defender Yoro from Lille until 2029 in a deal worth £52million with £6.7million in add-ons.

The 18-year-old has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford, with the option of an addition 12 months.

"Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour," said Yoro.

"Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.

"I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started."

Yoro had been linked with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, while Liverpool were also interested in his services.

While Liverpool fans have expressed frustration on social media at not having secured Yoro’s services, a video of Jurgen Klopp’s comments advocating FSG’s business model has gone viral.

In the clip, Klopp told the Anfield Wrap: “Liverpool is a super special club, and the way Liverpool do it is the right way. Properly. And when I hear that people say, ‘If [Klopp] would have had more backing from FSG at some point then this or that would have happened’, I don’t know because this or that would have happened.

“I don’t know because I felt backed but we couldn’t do what we wanted. That’s how its is.

“They say, ‘He should have asked for more money’, or ‘Sorry, we need another £100million. I would never start those conversations.’ And I would never start this discussion in public because they lead to nothing.

“If I say it in public people would be like, ‘Oh he said it in public’. They’re multi-billionaires. They’re not interested about the British press.”

Klopp continued: “If I said, ‘we need a £100million player or we cannot survive next season’ ,it just makes no sense. End of discussion. I think we did it the right way. We spent what we could spend and that’s what we did.

“Was there money. I don’t know. I don’t really care. I love all the steps we made. You come in and people tell you ‘The Liverpool way’ and to me it’s exactly that. Do it properly. Do it by the rules. Do it by the laws of the game. Don’t cheat.”
