Man United now working on very late deadline day signing but 'time could be a problem'
Manchester United are prepared to work right until the deadline to secure a deal for a highly-rated midfielder.
With just hours left until the Premier League transfer deadline, clubs across England's top-flight are working tirelessly to secure last-minute moves ahead of the first half of the 2026/27 season.
Dozens of signings have already been made on deadline day, including Manchester City matching the Premier League transfer record with a blockbuster £125million move for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez.
However, one club that has been relatively quiet at the end of the window is Manchester United, who have so far brought four new players to Old Trafford this summer.

Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba all arrived for a combined £155m as United manager Michael Carrick revamps his midfield, while goalkeeper Karl Darlow arrived on a free transfer.
But it appears that there's one more player United want to add to their new-look midfield, as it's been reported that the club are working on a Deadline Day deal for Leicester City's Louis Page.
Despite only making his first-team debut in August 2025 and 25 appearances overall, the 18-year-old is highly regarded at United, who plan to work hard to try and get a deal across the line ahead of the 11pm deadline.
Should a deal be completed, it is likely to cost well in excess of £10m.
According to Sky Sports, there is still significant work to be done before a full agreement is reached, meaning Page may end up being a player for United to revisit in January.
Things have been complicated further by the fact that plans currently could see Page be loaned back to Leicester before joining United next summer.
And with Page named in the starting lineup for Leicester City's League One clash with Plymouth Argyle at the King Power Stadium at 19:45 on Deadline Day, it appears increasingly likely the deal won't be completed before 11pm.
What else could Man United do on Deadline Day?
Overall, it's safe to say that fans aren't exactly happy with what has been a relatively quiet window at Old Trafford.
Many had hoped that, despite Luke Shaw's reliability last season, a new left-back would be signed this summer and, despite some links with Newcastle United's Lewis Hall, that is yet to happen.
Some reports have suggested that United have been looking at loan deals to address this issue, with Barcelona's Alejandro Balde seemingly an option after he was an unused substitute in their 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano last night.
Meanwhile, young full-back Harry Amass could yet be allowed to leave on loan on Deadline Day, further weakening their options in defence.
Another potential outgoing is striker Joshua Zirkzee, who remains the most likely senior player to leave amid links to Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Juventus.
But with Everton's Beto joining Fiorentina and Newcastle forward Nick Woltemade set to complete a medical with Juventus, Zirkzee's future remains up in the air.
