Liverpool have reportedly reopened talks over a January transfer that could save their season.

After winning the Premier League during Arne Slot's first season in charge, the Reds spent big to add new faces to their squad during the summer transfer window.

The likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong all arrived at Anfield in a summer spending spree that went north of £400 million.

However, Liverpool's preparation for their title defence was disrupted after the tragic death of Diogo Jota, who died alongside his brother, Andre, following a car accident in Spain.

At the beginning of the 25/26 season, Liverpool made a promising start as they won their opening five matches.

However, things began to unravel as the Reds' form dipped drastically, and they have lost nine of their last 13 matches.

With the January transfer window on the horizon, it has been claimed that Liverpool have reopened talks to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace.

During the summer window, the Reds saw a £35 million deal for Guehi collapse in the 11th hour after Palace refused to sell due to their failure to land a suitable replacement.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are willing to offer between £25 million to £30 million for the 25-year-old.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Guehi is free to speak to overseas clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of what would be a free transfer next summer.

Aside from Liverpool, the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also been linked with the England international.

What has Arne Slot said about Marc Guehi?

Back in September, Reds boss Slot spoke about the club's failure to get the Guehi deal over the line.

He said: "It would be ridiculous if I were to deny we were close to signing him. That is so out in the open. These things happen in football. We would have liked to have signed him, of course. If we feel we can strengthen the team, we never hesitate to do so.

"It's not like all of a sudden we don't have options in that position. It's a pity, not only for us but also for the player, I think. But he's in a good place, playing for Palace, where he won the Charity Shield and the FA Cup with a very good manager as well. Let's see what the future brings for him and for us."
