Liverpool could still sign three players despite the January transfer window closing on Monday night.
On Monday night, the winter transfer window slammed shut, with Liverpool adding no new players to their squad despite injuries to the likes of Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni.
On Sunday, it was reported that Liverpool had shown interest in Lutsharel Geertruida, but a deal failed to materialise with Sunderland refusing to countenance the departure of a player who has had a key role in the Black Cats' impressive return to the Premier League.
Instead, the Reds pivoted to focus on signing Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet in a deal worth a reported fee of £60 million after seeing off competition from Chelsea for his signature.

However, the youngster will only move to Anfield in the summer, leaving the Reds short of defensive options in the meantime.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano wrote on social media: "BREAKING: Jeremy Jacquet to Liverpool, here we go! Deal agreed now for June 2026, as revealed. Understand the fee is €60m plus €10m add-ons to Rennes. Jeremy has agreed personal terms with LFC.
"Agreement done for summer 2026 for one of the most talented CBs in the world."

Despite the January window being shut, Liverpool could still sign players via the free transfer market.
Although extremely unlikely, Liverpool could look at defenders with Leoni, Bradley and Frimpong out, plus Joe Gomez's fitness issues.
As per Transfermarkt, ex-West Ham United and Chelsea man Kurt Zouma could be a potential option, as he is currently without a club.
The Frenchman reportedly terminated his own contract at Romanian side CFR Cluj last month after just four appearances and is now looking for his next move.
Zouma would bring Premier League experience and much-needed cover at the back for the Reds.
Meanwhile, the likes of Jason Denayer and Daniel Amartey are also free agents, with Denayer probably the likelier of the two given Amartey has not been contracted to a club since his exit from Besiktas in 2024. Denayer, on the other hand, has played for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Fateh in the last two seasons before leaving the club last year.
Moving away from defence, another unlikely free agent transfer could be Raheem Sterling, who is looking for a new club after leaving Chelsea.
Although he left in controversial style when he moved from Anfield to Manchester City, Sterling could again provide some much-needed cover in attack at a time when Liverpool are fighting to finish in the top four, along with the FA Cup and Champions League offering Arne Slot's side a chance of silverware this season.
