Manchester City eliminated Liverpool from the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage as they beat them 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s side made easy work of Arne Slot’s side as Antoine Semenyo grabbed a goal while Erling Haaland scored a hattrick, and this will put serious pressure on the Dutch manager as rumours continue to swirl about whether he is the man to lead the Reds forward after the completion of this season.
Liverpool have struggled this season, as they are well off the pace in the Premier League title race and have now failed to lift either the EFL or FA Cup, with the only route for silverware this campaign being in the Champions League; however, they have the current holders of this competition in the quarter-final, with many expecting PSG to progress.

Slot became the first ever Dutch manager to win the Premier League as a manager last season, a record that will surely fill him with immense pride.
However, the Dutch manager has now set two unwanted records with this FA Cup exit and defeat to Man City.
This was the seventh fixture in the competition between City and Liverpool. The Citizens progressed from the first two after replays in 1955-56 and 1972-73, but the Reds have since won each of the last four, most recently in the 2021-22 semi-final on route to winning what is their most recent FA Cup trophy.
So, with this victory, City have ended a 53-year spell without a win against Liverpool in the FA Cup.
This is now the third victory Man City have had this season over Liverpool, demonstrating exactly where the two teams are at currently.
Fans of the Manchester club will now be pleased to know that in doing this they have now won three successive meetings with the Reds in all competitions for the first time since March 1937.
Worryingly for Liverpool fans, it is an indictment of where their club is at currently under Slot, as it is the first time since 2016 that the Reds have lost to a side three times in a single campaign with that club being West Ham.
