Jamie Carragher has been slammed by fans after he failed to 'call out' a Liverpool player for what he did against Wolves.

Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 as Arne Slot's side returned to the win column following their 2-2 draw at Everton in midweek.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring before Mohamed Salah doubled his side's lead from the spot.

Matheus Cunha reduced the deficit with a stunning strike.

Moments before Wolves scored their goal, Liverpool were awarded a second penalty following Emmanuel Agbadou's supposed foul on Diogo Jota.

Simon Hooper pointed to the spot, but his decision was overturned by VAR following a review.

On Sky Sports commentary, Carragher insisted there was a slight touch, seemingly defending Jota's decision to fall to the ground.

However, his comments angered supporters on social media as they believe the Liverpool legend should have called out Jota's 'dive'.

Others also referenced his 'bias' towards his old side and reckon he would have had a different reaction if it was a player from another team.

One X user wrote: "Jamie Charragher doesn’t even try to hide his bias... that’s the most obvious dive when watched back and he’s saying 'Jota has been clever there'. Let that have been any other team and he’d saying how disgraceful the player is."

A second said: "From the very first replay it was a clear dive, but Carragher tried to convince you all there was enough contact."

A third added: "Why isn’t Jamie Carragher calling that dive out instead of saying there’s not much in it?! Clear as day he dived, no contact at all and neither commentator calling it out."

A fourth exclaimed: "Carragher should not be comms for Liverpool game ....just cannot bring himself to say what everyone with eyes is thinking....He dived."

A fifth commented: "That’s a dive. Just call it a dive instead of being ‘clever’ Pathetic from Carragher."

Another fumed: "If that was any other club Carragher would be trying to get him locked up. One of the most blatant attempts to deceive an official I’ve ever seen."

Rio Ferdinand also shared his views on Jota as he questioned why he wasn't shown a yellow card.

"The dive gets worse on the replays….," he wrote on X. "Mustn’t get booked for that anymore then?"
