Liverpool suffer major blow ahead of Arsenal clash which could have huge impact on title race

Liverpool will take on Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their clash against Arsenal this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s table-topping Reds will travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal in a mouth-watering Premier League clash on Sunday.

In the reverse fixture, the teams played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Currently, Liverpool are top of the league table, five points ahead of the Gunners.

However, ahead of the clash on Sunday, Liverpool have been dealt a huge injury blow.

Talisman Mohamed Salah is set to be ruled out for the match against Arsenal as he continues to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered during Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against Ghana.

After Egypt were knocked out of AFCON by DR Congo this week, there were hopes that Salah could recover in time to face Arsenal.

However, speaking ahead of Liverpool’s match against Chelsea, Klopp ruled Salah out of the team’s next two matches.

He told reporters: “There was no pressure on him other than wanting to get fit as quickly as possible anyway. We don't rush. If you could rush the healing process, Thiago wouldn't be out for 10 months.

“Mo is not ready. Out for this game, out for the next. It could have been worse but he is not available at the moment.”

This is a huge blow for Liverpool in their bid to win the Premier League for the second time.

Despite that, Liverpool are still in great form as they haven’t tasted defeat in the Premier League since their controversial 2-1 loss against Tottenham Hotspur back in September 2023.

Providing updates on other players, Klopp said: “Macca trained yesterday so should be fine. Thiago trained which was an incredible moment after all these months. And to train at the level he does. But he needs time.”

Liverpool will host Chelsea on Wednesday night before taking on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
