Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be sweating over the severity of Mohamed Salah’s injury.

On Thursday night, Reds talisman Salah was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury during Egypt’s AFCON clash against Ghana.

Salah was replaced just before the halftime whistle by Mostafa Fathi.

With Liverpool well in the race for the Premier League, Klopp will be left worried over the severity of Salah’s injury.

Normally, if a player suffers a Grade 1 or Grade 2 hamstring tear, the recovery time is expected to be between three to eight weeks.

In the worst case, a Grade 3 tear could result in a layoff for three months.

Salah was already expected to miss Liverpool’s January fixtures due to AFCON. Still, with the injury now a major problem, the Egyotian could miss Premier League matches against Arsenal, Burnley, Brentford, Luton and Nottingham Forest.

At the start of March, Liverpool will host Manchester City at Anfield, Salah will be hoping to be back for that vital match if the injury is not serious.

If Salah did suffer a Grade 3 tear, he will likely be out until at least April, which could seriously derail Liverpool’s season.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s match against Bournemouth, Klopp said: “We don't know anything. I spoke with him last night. They are doing further assessments. In the moment it was a shock. He felt it and we know how rarely Mo goes off so there was something.”

However, Salah was seen walking past the media zone after the match with a slight smile on his face, which could indicate that the injury was not too serious.

Egypt manager said: “I hope it's not a big problem. But it was a problem in the first half because we lost one time to make a substitution. In the second half, we only had two moments to make substitutions.

“Now I don't know because it's [too] early to see something. I think it's not dangerous, but let's see if Salah recovers.”
