Everyone spotted Darwin Nunez's gesture after Liverpool's 97th minute VAR controversy

Everyone spotted Darwin Nunez's gesture after Liverpool's 97th minute VAR controversy

Darwin Nunez had no time for the referee after Liverpool's 3-2 loss to Toulouse in the Europa League.

Liverpool fans all spotted how Darwin Nunez brutally pied referee Georgi Kabakovafter his team had a 97th minute equaliser chalked off by VAR.

Jurgen Klopp's side suffered their first defeat of the Europa League this season at the hands of Ligue One side Toulouse, who beat them 3-2 on Thursday night.

Liverpool found themselves 3-1 down after Aron Donnum, Thijs Dallinga and Frank Magri all bagged in a stunning performance at Stadium de Toulouse.

Cristian Casseres Jr put through his own net for Liverpool's first goal to make it 2-1 before a fine solo effort from Diogo Jota followed Magri's strike to set up a frantic finish.

Liverpool thought they had levelled right at the death when youngster Jarell Quansah swept home.

Yet after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed - with Alexis Mac Allister penalised for an accidental handball in the build-up to the goal.

Liverpool were furious given how far back in the passage of play the handball was and Klopp fumed at the referee when he entered the pitch after the full-time whistle.

But Nunez, who missed an open goal in the reverse fixture against Toulouse, had no time for the official whatsoever.

The enigmatic Uruguayan striker came on as a substitute in the second half as Liverpool threw on their big guns.

Footage shared online showed Nunez appearing to snub a handshake with the man in the middle, as well as pulling his hand away when approached by goalscorer Magri.

The former Benfica man has further endeared himself to Liverpool fans with his reaction.

After the game, Klopp, who was furious with his press conference being interrupted by chanting, said it was not handball in his view.

He said: "I only saw the video back now and for me it's not a handball, but how can I decide that? The ball goes to the chest and then I don't see a contact with the arm, to be honest.

"Maybe they had a different picture than I had. It was pretty long ago before we scored the goal and I thought, 'Where is the free-kick?' I didn't see it properly but I heard there could have been a penalty for us in another situation, I don't know."

Liverpool return to action on Sunday when they host Brentford at Anfield.
