Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after their dismal defeat against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

On Tuesday night, Liverpool travelled to the Rams Park in Istanbul as they took on Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Arne Slot's men suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday afternoon after they produced a dismal performance at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

As a result, their lead at the top of the Premier League table was cut to just two points after Arsenal's dramatic win over Newcastle United.

On Tuesday night, in front of a hostile crowd in Istanbul, Liverpool looked for a fast start but were stung by the hosts.

With 16 minutes on the clock, Victor Osimhen scored a penalty to make it 1-0 to Galatasaray following a foul by Dominik Szoboszlai.

In the second half, Liverpool's performance did not improve and they were lucky not to be 2-0 down when Osimhen was clean through on goal, only to see his shot saved by Alisson Becker.

Alisson was then forced off due to an injury, replaced by Giorgi Mamardashvili.

In a bid to find the equaliser, Slot threw on the likes of Salah and Alexander Isak.

Eventually, Galatasaray held on to secure a vital 1-0 win as Liverpool produced yet another abysmal display.

Taking to social media, Liverpool fans were not impressed with Ibrahima Konate's performance.

One fan said: "I’m absolutely done with Konate."

Another tweeted: "Leoni would be starting every game if he hadn't got injured. Konate is Lovren level bad currently."

A third fan added: "Konaté is finished."

Someone else wrote: "If Konate won't sign a contract, or commit to Liverpool, he should be on the bench while he decides where his allegiance lies."

A fifth commented: "Konate has been shocking this season."

Another fan said: "Think Gomez needs a run of games on this team ahead of Konate."

As things stand, Konate will be leaving Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the season as his contract is set to expire.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Liverpool will be back in Premier League action this weekend when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
