A Liverpool player who Arne Slot told to leave Anfield is now smashing it at his new club.
Liverpool's perfect start to the new season ended on Saturday, with a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
It was a frustrating afternoon for the Reds, who have struggled to find consistent performances after a busy summer of transfer business The arrivals of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and two new full-backs were seen as signs of ambition from the champions.
But the number of changes has meant Liverpool have struggled to get going this season. Although Liverpool's transfer business has been widely praised in recent years, some fans are now wondering if they have been too hasty with sales.

Tyler Morton, who played five games for Slot last season was sold for £15 million to Lyon, which seemed to be a fair price for the academy graduate.

But the 22-year-old has impressed so far in France, even scoring his first goal for Lyon this weekend in their 1-0 victory over Lille. Morton recently spoke about the conversations he had with Slot over the summer, when he learned that he was not part of the head coach's plans.
He said: "Jurgen Klopp was the best coach for my development. I think at that moment, I was ready to play. I’m not saying that no-one believed it, but I think I was ready, and Klopp thought so too.

"He gave me the opportunity to play on the biggest stage for a very big club. He believed in me, allowed me to go out on loan, to develop.
“With Arne Slot, I didn’t play as much as I wanted, even though I was ready. It was his decision, and I took it calmly, but I had to find another path. He was very open and very honest with me at the end of last season."

Morton had already enjoyed successful loan moves with Blackburn Rovers in 2022/23 and Hull City in 2023/24, before spending last season back at Liverpool

But he struggled for minutes, with Ryan Gravenberch firmly established in his preferred position.
“We talked a lot, and he let me join OL (Lyon)," Morton added.
"It was the best decision. I will be eternally grateful to Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot, in different ways. They are excellent managers, but also great men.
"Jurgen just wanted the best for me, he made me play great games in the Champions League and the Premier League. It was a great time, he helped me improve at every level."

Morton's strong start in Ligue 1 has already drawn comparisons with some of Europe's best midfielders.
Sky Sports reporter Victor Lefaucheux even compared Morton to Manchester United's Casemiro, a five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid.
