Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp labelled a 'cry baby' and 'deluded' for comments after Man Utd draw

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp labelled a 'cry baby' and 'deluded' for comments after Man Utd draw

Klopp was pleased with his side's performance.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been labelled "deluded" by opposing fans for his comments about Manchester United following their goalless draw at Anfield.

Liverpool were held to a stalemate in the Premier League on Sunday, a frustrating result which dents the Reds' title hopes.

Klopp's side dominated large periods of the match but were unable to find a breakthrough despite having 34 shots – the majority of which were from distance.

After the match, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk expressed his frustration with the final result, claiming the home side were "superior" to United in every area except the scoreline.

"We had most of the ball and created most of the opportunities. There was only one team trying to win," Van Dijk told Sky Sports.

"Unfortunately it didn't happen. That is why it is frustrating because we want to win every game. Especially when you play against a team like them."

Former United captain Roy Keane took exception to Van Dijk's comments, branding the Liverpool skipper "arrogant" and "disrespectful".

Speaking after full-time, Klopp said he was pleased with Liverpool's performance and believed they dominated the match – even more than in last season's 7-0 thrashing of United at Anfield.

"The one thing I didn't like is the result," Klopp told Sky Sports.

"We should have scored. We had opportunities, we should have had more opportunities. We should have had more clear-cut chances, we were in a bit of a rush early on.

"Everybody saw that we really wanted it. Counter-pressing was probably the best since we had this group together. We didn't really let them out first half.

“Second half, they had one or two chances where we had to call on Alisson but besides that I can't remember such a dominant performance against Man Utd, even the 7-0 – they were more in the game.

"It is 0-0 – they probably feel slightly better than us. We take the point and keep going."

United fans were quick to respond to Klopp's comments on social media.

"Nice three points for him," joked one United fan on X.

Another added: "Klopp you're such a cry baby coach jezzz grow up man."

While a third wrote: "Flopp is so deluded."

United are now seventh in the Premier League after the draw and are now six points off the top four.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are second - one point behind new league leaders Arsenal, who beat Brighton 2-0 earlier in the day.
