Jurgen Klopp has been tipped to make a shock return to football management after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season.

Klopp stepped down as Reds boss after nine years at the helm, announcing his decision in January and claiming he was running out of energy.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss signed off with a win over Wolves in May and has been enjoying his time off with wife Ulla and the rest of his family.

He did return to the dugout for Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski's testimonial but Klopp is now being linked with Serie A winners Inter Milan.

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is being touted as a leading contender to replace Erik ten Hag if United decide to sack him following a dismal start to the new season.

InterLive, via TEAMtalk, say that the Nerazzurri are aware of interest in Inzaghi and already have plans in place themselves should he move on.

Klopp would be Inter's No.1 choice to replace Inzaghi and they see him as an easier target to obtain than former player Diego Simeone, who is still managing Atletico Madrid after more than a decade.

Klopp's name has been thrown in the hat for various gigs, including the USMNT, Barcelona and Germany positions.

But having splashed out on a new mansion in Germany's equivalent of 'Beverly Hills', Klopp doesn't appear to be closing in on a return anytime soon.

And when he announced he was leaving Liverpool, Klopp was adamant that he would be out of work for at least a year.

He admitted: “If you ask me, ‘Will you ever work as a manager again?' I would say now no. But I don’t know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation. What I know definitely – I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool.

“But all the rest, will I ever work again? Of course, I know myself, I cannot just sit around. I will find something else maybe to do. But I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year, that’s not possible, I cannot do that and I don’t want to. That’s all.”
