Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher was damning in his assessment of one Liverpool player, despite the win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Liverpool enjoyed their biggest win under new manager Arne Slot on Sunday, as they beat United 3-0 at Old Trafford.

A goal from talisman Mohamed Salah sealed the deal for the Merseyside club after a brace from Luis Diaz in the first half set the Reds up for their third successive win to start the 2024/25 season.

But despite he fantastic performance, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher criticised one player for how they acted during the match.

Late in the match, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai had the opportunity to score once again for Liverpool as he received the ball in United's box just a few yards from the opposing goal.

But, instead of shooting, the Hungarian tried to create an even better chance, leading commentators Carragher and Gary Neville to heavily criticise Szoboszlai, labelling him cocky and unprofessional.

The goal would have removed any lingering doubts that United could potentially mount a huge comeback, but ultimately it was not needed.

If Szoboszlai had found the back of the net, it would have been his eighth goal for Liverpool, who he joined from Red Bull Leipzig last summer, signing a five-year deal in a deal reportedly worth £60million.

However, other than the failure to shoot late in the match, Szoboszlai had a good match for the Reds as he continues to enjoy the new system under Slot that appears to benefit his playing style.

The 23-year-old assisted Salah's 56th minute goal, meaning he has now assisted the Egyptian twice in Liverpool's three league matches so far.

Speaking after the match, Slot praised his opponents and acknowledged the challenge they provided his side despite the scoreline.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "United started really aggressive and we had to fight through that period but if you go to Old Trafford you know there will be tough moments.

"But, in the end some nice goals and a deserved win I think."
