Liverpool fans are convinced the club have dropped a major transfer hint with their new adidas kit launch for the 25/26 season.

Arne Slot's side have been playing their pre-season matches in last season's Nike kits up until this point, with their record deal with adidas only starting on Friday.

Liverpool fans will see their new strip in action for the first time on Monday when they play Athletico Bilbao, which will be their final match before the Community Shield vs Crystal Palace.

The Merseyside club announced their home and away kit on Friday morning with the likes of Mo Salah, Florian Wirtz, and Ryan Gravenberch featuring heavily.

However, Darwin Nunez appeared absent from the promotional shoot, leaving Liverpool fans convinced it was a decision based on speculation around his future.

One fan wrote: "Núñez is not in any of the kit release pictures. Sale soon?"

Another added: "Wait, Nunez is not in any of these new kit pictures. Or I am yet to see it."

A third questioned: "Where was Nunez in the new kit??"

Another fan theorised: "Nunez out the door, i don’t think he was part of the kit launch crew."

Nunez has failed to cement himself as a starter for Liverpool under Slot, after falling out of favour with Jurgen Klopp towards the end of his time at the club.

What Arne Slot has said about Darwin Nunez

Speaking in January, Slot admitted he has found it difficult to find a role for Nunez that maximises his potential and biggest strengths.

"Darwin is a striker we have to use in a certain way and we were not able yet to bring the best out of him this season," Slot said.

"Against Accrington Stanley again you saw he has a lot of pace but, unfortunately for him, most teams sit back a lot against us. If you look back at the goals he scored for us, I remember the one against Villa when he went around the goalkeeper on a fast break, that is his main strength.

"He has other qualities as well, but we are still working on getting him in the best possible positions against a low block. That involves the right timings, the right crosses, the right position to start from and making the right run."
