Dominik Szoboszlai's recent Instagram activity has got Liverpool fans talking after he commented on two Real Madrid players' social media posts.

The Hungarian was on target for Liverpool on Saturday, scoring their second in a 3-0 FA Cup fourth round win over Brighton.

In a tricky season for the champions under Arne Slot, Szoboszlai has arguably been Liverpool's best player and showed his qualities with a stunning free-kick against Manchester City.

Wearing the iconic No.8 shirt and displaying incredible versatility, Szoboszlai has been compared to Reds legend Steven Gerrard - rejecting the calls despite being flattered.

But in the midst of contract talks, Szoboszlai has fuelled speculation of a desire to play for Real on Instagram.

The former RB Leipzig midfielder commented on a post from former Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, after he recovered from a wretched period with injury at Real with an assist in the 4-1 win over Real Valladolid over the weekend.

The Liverpool academy product wrote that it was "Good to be back" and Szoboszlai was among those in the comments, as he simply said, "My boy" alongside a loveheart emoji.

In addition, Szoboszlai also commented on a post put out by Vinicius Jr, who scored two penalties in the win. This time, the 25-year-old attached clapping and fire emojis.

The comments come after his Hungary manager Marco Rossi said that Szoboszlai has a "dream" to play for Los Blancos in the future and has done so since he was young.

"Due to the very close and direct relationship I have had with Dominik Szoboszlai since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid has always been his dream,” Rossi said in an interview with WinWin, as per MARCA.

“Since he started playing football, Dominik has had only one dream: to play for Real Madrid.

"I don’t know if he will be able to take that step, because the decision depends on him and also on his club."

“The idea that is always on your mind is to fulfil your dream and make it a reality, and, from my point of view, that is the only and most important thought that can dominate Dominik’s mind."

He added: “However, I do not rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially as he is highly valued within the club.

“He is a very important player for Liverpool, and Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Szoboszlai, Hungary's captain, is in his third season with Liverpool and has quickly grown into one of the Reds' most important players.

Arne Slot talks up Szoboszlai as future captain

He is said to earn around £120,000-a-week on his current deal but reports claim he has asked for that figure to be increased to £300,000-a-week - which would make him one of the club's top earners.

The club value him highly and are said to be willing to offer fresh terms of £250,000-a-week. Slot has been pleased with his progression and believes he has the ability to captain the club as well as his country if he makes "the next step"

"Yes, but he’s still young," Slot said when asked if Szoboszlai could be his next captain.

"I think he has a lot of attributes already, especially when it comes to leading by example.

"But there’s still a step to make in terms of leadership, being vocal, being a voice in the dressing room if I compare him to Virgil [van Dijk], which is completely normal because Virgil is 34 and has seen probably James Milner or Jordan Henderson and these players.

"So it’s really good for Dominik that he sees Virgil as well. That would be a next step for him, to be as vocal and as loud as Virgil is."
