Alexander Isak signed for Liverpool in a £130 million move, following on from the £69 million capture of Hugo Ekitike.

Hugo Ekitike has responded to Liverpool's £130 million capture of Alexander Isak in a positive way after the deadline day deal took Liverpool's spending to £446 million.

Having refused to play for Newcastle and accused the club of broken promises in an explosive statement, Isak finally got his wish on the final day of the window and penned a six-year deal after the two clubs agreed a British-record fee.

Newcastle brought in two forwards in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa to fill the void left by their talisman, who now links up with one of the players who they missed out on Ekitike.

The £69 million man scored three goals in his first three games leading the line for the Reds, instantly adapting to life in English football.

But the arrival of Isak has prompted many to worry that the Frenchman may well be pushed out the side to make way for the new big-money No.9.

Some have wondered if Arne Slot will look to operate with a front two - or perhaps move Ekitike out to the left flank and compete with Cody Gakpo on occasion.

However, Ekitike, fresh from his France call-up, does not appear to be worried at all.

As noticed by fans online, the former Eintracht Frankfurt man reacted by liking Isak's post about his dream move.

The Swede said it is "an honour and a privilege" to sign for Liverpool and that he "can’t wait to get going".

In a second post, Isak thanked all those connected to Newcastle for the memories they shared across his three-year spell.

Despite the bitter exit, he highlighted his pride at ending the club's 70-year trophy drought and qualifying for the Champions League.

"I want to express my gratitude to my teammates, the staff, and above all, the city of Newcastle and all the amazing supporters for the three unforgettable years we shared together," Isak wrote alongside a montage video of his best bits.

"Together, we have written history and brought the club to the place where it truly belongs. It has been an honour to be part of the journey from reaching the Champions League to winning the first trophy in over 70 years.

"Forever grateful. Thank you, Newcastle."

In contrast, Newcastle did not acknowledge Isak's goal tally in their blunt statement which didn't wish him well in his next chapter.

“Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee," the statement read.

“The Sweden international joined the Magpies from Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.”

Isak could make his Liverpool debut against Burnley on 13 September.
