Liverpool supporters are not pleased with one player after he appeared frustrated with fans gathered in the away section at the Etihad.

On Saturday (4 April), Arne Slot’s side fell to a crushing 4-0 defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with an Erling Haaland hat-trick and an Antoine Semenyo strike ensuring the home side progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Norwegian opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after Virgil van Dijk’s challenge on Nico O’Reilly forced Michael Oliver to award the spot-kick.

By first-half stoppage time, City and Haaland had their second, with the Premier League’s leading goalscorer nodding home Semenyo’s cross past the helpless Giorgi Mamardashvili.

The home side made it three when Semenyo clipped the ball over the Liverpool goalkeeper in the 50th minute, before Haaland completed his hat-trick seven minutes later.

And just to round off Liverpool’s nightmare performance, Mohamed Salah, playing in his first match since announcing his Anfield exit, saw a penalty saved by City’s James Trafford.

By full-time, the away end was relatively sparse given the result, although the Liverpool players still walked towards the section to applaud the fans’ support.

However, some are not happy with Dominik Szoboszlai after he was seen gesticulating towards the Liverpool fans shortly after full-time.

A video posted online appeared to show the Hungarian waving his arms towards the away fans before Federico Chiesa intervened.

Fans were quick to offer their thoughts on social media.

One said: “Unacceptable behaviour, I need him gone so badly. Extending him would be a mistake.”

Another added: “Not the first time he’s gestured like this towards the fans. Lack of self-awareness in this team is astonishing. They’re not leaving for no reason, mate.”

A third claimed: “What’s he doing? We got battered 4-0 — what the f*** does he expect from the fans?”

While a fourth commented: “Sorry but really disappointed by this from Dominik. The whole season has been a travesty and you expect fans to not have a limit at this point?!?! Especially with a 4-0 loss to these p****s?! Disgusted by his reaction there, honestly.”

Speaking to TNT Sports after the 4-0 trouncing the Liverpool midfielder questioned his side's mentality.

"The fighting spirit wasn't there enough, the mentality wasn't there enough," he said. "None of us were there to be honest as much as we could.

"It's a hard time but we have to stick together. On Wednesday there is another chance but we have to get in our head this is not the season we would like to end."

Liverpool return to action on 8 April when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Parc des Princes.
