Lamine Yamal has already been proven wrong after naming the only club that could prevent Barcelona from winning the Champions League.

Hansi Flick's men are one step away from the semi-final of Europe's premier club competition, with German outfit Borussia Dortmund standing in the way.

However, Barcelona dismantled Dortmund last week during the first leg at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys as goals from Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Yamal sealed a 4-0 win.

As a result, Barcelona are the favourites to advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either Bayern Munich or Inter Milan.

Speaking earlier in the season, teenage sensation Yamal picked out Liverpool as the favourites to win the Champions League ahead of Barcelona.

He told MD: "I think that only Liverpool are more favourites than us in Champions League… as they arrived first.

"We can compete to win it. We can be there."

At the time, Barca boss Flick also said that Liverpool could be his side's biggest threat for this year's crown.

"The future will tell whether we are among the favourites or not," Flick said in January.

"The Champions League is one of the most difficult competitions to win, but we have to try. When I look at Liverpool, I see a team with incredible power. They are one of my favourite teams in the world right now. We are doing well, but there are very good teams that are also doing well, and we are contending on three fronts [Champions League, LaLiga and Copa del Rey]."

However, both Yamal and Flick have since been proved wrong as Liverpool were knocked out in the round of 16 by French giants Paris Saint Germain.

The pair had to be separated via a penalty shootout, with Luis Enrique's men coming out on top after crucial misses from Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.

On the other side of the draw, the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Aston Villa and PSG are gunning to secure European glory.
