Kylian Mbappe will face an unprecedented situation in France's World Cup hunt, continuing on Saturday against Paraguay in the Round of 16.
The Frenchman is enjoying one of the strongest individual campaigns in World Cup history, with eight goal involvements in four matches.
Mbappe began his tournament with a brace vs Senegal, bagging another against Iraq, two assists vs Norway, and two goals against Sweden.
He is currently tied in the Golden Boot race with Argentina's Lionel Messi, as both have netted six strikes so far during the North American tournament.

Messi, heralded as the greatest footballer of all time, has never won the World Cup Golden Boot, having been narrowly pipped by Mbappe in 2022, after the Frenchman bagged a final hat-trick during his nation's loss to Argentina.
As France look to make a third successive final at the tournament, Mbappe and his team-mates will face an unprecedented situation in their Round of 16 clash against Paraguay, taking place this Saturday.
FIFA urged to delay France vs Paraguay due to unprecedented heatwave
According to The Weather Channel, temperatures will exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday afternoon, in an unprecedented heatwave that will likely cause severe distress to those playing.
Didier Deschamps' men are no strangers at the 2026 World Cup to weather affecting their fixtures, having played through a thunderstorm delay vs Iraq in the group stage.
Their Round of 16 battle vs giant-slaying Paraguay, who prevailed against Germany via penalties, is the hottest game on record at the tournament thus far.
This is unprecedented heat ahead of France v Paraguay R16 match in Philadelphia.

The humidity is expected to reach around 44%, suggesting a dew-point level of over 75 degrees Fahrenheit, which comes with guidance to even the fittest of athletes to take training or activity indoors, as opposed to exercising outside.
As a result, the game is in danger of being delayed, a hyper-rare occurrence at any World Cup tournament, to account for the shocking heat and play at a later, cooler time.
In 2018, England's quarter-final World Cup clash vs Sweden was also hit by an record-breaking heatwave, exceeding 35 degrees, in the city of its venue, Samara.
Water pressure in the region was said to have been affected by the heat, with the water authority advising that people shower together.
This was later revealed to be a joke, and the Three Lions' clash went ahead as planned, unaffected by heatwave delays.
They prevailed 2-0 through Harry Maguire and Dele Alli headers, then advanced to the semi-final.
No game in World Cup history has ever been abandoned mid-match, however, Saturday's weather makes this scenario a possibility.
Alternatively, moving France vs Paraguay is highly unlikely, with FIFA placing the fixture in a 'primetime' European viewing window at 10pm BST.
Paraguay are arguably the team most affected of the pair, having been taken to extra time and penalties by Germany in their previous World Cup showdown.
In contrast, France glided with ease to a 3-0 victory against Sweden, however, superstars Mbappe and Michael Olise were not substituted early, playing 85 minutes.
