Harry Kane's chance of winning the World Cup's Golden Boot award for a second time have risen significantly after he scored a brace in England's 2-1 win over DR Congo.
The Three Lions captain saved his nation by netting twice in the final 15 minutes to secure a comeback victory.
It was hardly a convincing performance from Thomas Tuchel's side, who lacked intensity and urgency throughout large periods of the match.
Marcus Rashford and Jude Bellingham did have good chances to equalise either side of half-time, but DR Congo still posed a threat on the break and even threatened to extend their lead.

As it is, two Anthony Gordon assists and two Kane goals avoided the nightmare scenario for England, with a last 16 date against Mexico now on the horizon.

Kane now has five goals to his name for the tournament, having won the Golden Boot in Russia in 2018 after netting six times.
That amount is already guaranteed not to win him the award outright this year, with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi both currently clear on six. Norway's Erling Haaland also has five to his name.
But what is the likelihood of every player winning the Golden Boot after Kane's heroics?
Golden Boot probabilities ranked
France's last 16 opponents are already confirmed as Paraguay, with Mbappe set to have the opportunity to add to his goal tally.
Messi and Argentina, meanwhile, are in round of 32 action on Friday against Cape Verde, while Norway and Haaland beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in their first knockout clash.
The fact that Messi has played a game less means he is the current favourite to win the Golden Boot award, according to a new supercomputer by BettingLounge.
His chances of lifting the trophy are rated at 34 per cent, with the Argentina legend tipped to score an astonishing 13 goals at the tournament.
Such a tally would equal the record for all-time goals at a World Cup that has stood since France's Just Fontaine originally set it all the way back in 1958.
Kane, meanwhile, is projected to score 11 goals by the supercomputer, with Mbappe in third place on 10 goals.
That would allow Messi to keep his all-time World Cup goalscoring landmark which he achieved during the 2-0 group stage win over Algeria, overtaking Miroslav Klose's tally of 16. Mbappe is currently on 17, one behind Messi's current amount.
Kane's chances of winning the Golden Boot are now up to 22 per cent, though Mbappe is close behind him on 20 per cent.
Haaland is given a 13 per cent chance of scoring the most World Cup goals this summer, ahead of Brazil's Vinicius Junior (four per cent).
Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo has a two per cent chance, it is claimed, with the 41-year-old having netted twice ahead of Portugal's last 16 tie against Croatia in the early hours of Friday morning UK time.
