Both Manchester United and Chelsea have issued a response to Jurgen Klopp’s agent’s claims that the Premier League clubs enquired about the German’s availability after he departed Liverpool following nine years in charge in 2024.
Since bringing his successful tenure at Anfield to an end following the 2023/24 Premier League season, Klopp has been without a managerial role despite acting as Global Head of Soccer for the Red Bull Group.
At 58, the German would likely have several options if he did choose to return to the dugout, given his success with Liverpool and former club Borussia Dortmund.
However, according to his agent, things could have been entirely different for Klopp if he chose to accept offers from Premier League clubs after leaving the Reds.

Speaking to Transfermarkt, Marc Kosicke claimed that Klopp had been subject to interest from Liverpool’s rivals, Man Utd and Chelsea, after he exited Anfield.
Kosicke also suggested that his client “could have coached the United States or England”, while also claiming that he may have taken the Germany job if current boss Julian Nagelsmann “hadn’t already been there”.
"Maybe at some point, he'll say he needs to smell the locker room again,” Kosicke said.

“But at the moment he's very, very happy in his role.”
He added: “Even Chelsea and Manchester United inquired, although Jürgen had clearly stated that he would not coach any other club in England.
"These inquiries keep coming. He's extremely happy with what he's achieved. And it's still wonderful to go down in history as one of the few coaches who only managed three clubs and were never fired."
The agent claimed that Klopp was approached to become the head coach of the USMNT before Mauricio Pochettino took on the job in September 2024.
Klopp has explicitly said that he would never manage another English club due to his connection with Liverpool and their supporters.
Since Kosicke’s interview, the Press Association have reported that both Chelsea and Man Utd strongly deny having made a personal approach to Klopp himself or through his agent.
In October 2025, the German appeared on the Diary of a CEO podcast and said that he doesn’t “miss coaching” despite suggestions that he may return to the dugout in the coming months.
“I don't miss standing in the rain two-and-a-half, three hours,” Klopp explained.
“I don't miss going to press conference three times a week, having 10-12 interviews a week. I don't miss that."
The 58-year-old has also been linked with the Real Madrid head coach role should the club decide to appoint a new boss in the summer of 2026.
