The teams that have already booked their places in the World Cup knockout stages have been revealed.

After two weeks of exciting action, the final group stage matches of the 2026 World Cup are now upon us, as teams face off to secure the last spots in the knockouts.

With the 2026 World Cup being the first to include 48 teams, expanded from the previous 32-team format, a total of 32 teams will make it to the next round of the tournament.

The winners and runners-up for each of the 12 groups of four teams will automatically make it to the next round, with the eight best third-placed teams also progressing.

At the time of writing, 13 teams have secured a spot in the round of 32, while seven teams have been eliminated, with a total of 16 nations sent home after the group stage.

In Group A, co-hosts Mexico were the first team in the entire tournament to qualify for the round of 32 as group winners after beating South Africa and Korea Republic in their opening matches.

With a win over Czechia in their last group stage match, they also sent knocked the European side out of the World Cup, while South Africa secured a major upset as they beating Korea in matchday three to qualify for the knockout phase for the first time ever.

Group B is the first to have three countries progress with Switzerland, Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina all through to the next round.

Switzerland defeated Canada 2-1 in Vancouver to win the group with the co-hosts qualifying from second place, meanwhile Bosnia are secured one of the top third-placed teams spots because they have a higher ranking than Scotland, and whoever finishes third out of Senegal/Iraq, Australia/Paraguay, and Austria/Algeria.

Of course, this means that Qatar have been eliminated.

In Group C, Brazil and Morocco are through to the round of 32, while Haiti has been eliminated and Scotland have to wait and see if their third-place finish will be enough to squeeze through to the knockouts.

Group D has seen co-hosts USA go through as group winners and Turkey eliminated in perhaps the biggest exit of the tournament so far.

Meanwhile in Group E, Germany have topped the group to go through.

Group F is yet to have a nation progress, but Tunisia are among the teams to have been knocked out.

Largely thanks to the talents of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, both France and Norway are though in Group I, but they will have to wait until after their match against each other to determine which nation finishes first and second.

Ahead of their meeting in the final group game of Group J, Argentina and Jordan will be in clashing spirits with the reigning World Cup champions already through to the round of 32 while Jordan have been knocked out.

In Group K, Colombia have secured their place in the next round.

Finally, like Group F, Group L has not yet settled it's winner or runner-up following England's 0-0 draw with Ghana, but Panama are guaranteed to finish bottom and are therefore out.
