England secured a 2-0 win over Panama as they topped Group L of the World Cup in an unconvincing performance; however, several players put their case forward to remain in the team for the next round.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are expected to face either DR Congo or Senegal in the round of 32 after their victory against Panama.

Despite making hard work in getting the three points, several individuals impressed, as seen in England’s player ratings, with fans believing one player impressed so much in his position that he should remain on the team for the rest of the competition.

Marcus Rashford replaced Anthony Gordon on the left side of England’s attack for the Panama victory, and the Manchester United star looked dangerous throughout with his direct running and willingness to take on his marker.

Gordon, on the other hand, has struggled to make an impact at this tournament so far, and now he may be facing a spell on the sidelines if supporters get their way, expressing their hopes that Rashford remains the first choice for Tuchel in this position.

One fan wrote: “Rashford can be wasteful, but he's simply a much better option than Gordon atm. Far more involved. Better dribbler, better passer.”

Another said: “Rashford is much more dangerous than Gordon. Only God knows why Tuchel has been starting Gordon ahead of him.”

While a supporter stated: “Rashford looked a million times more likely to create than Gordon and Madueke have in the last two games.”

Several fans were quick to point out Barcelona’s decision to sign Gordon for €80 million instead of deciding to keep loanee Rashford at the club, who would have cost €30 million.

One supporter said: “Barcelona why the hell would you pay for Gordon over Rashford? Are we watching the same sport?”

What are Barcelona seeing that they would rather spend 80 million on Gordon than keep Rashford?

Someone is losing their job over that one.

Another added: “We signed Gordon to silence that old Bayern guy, but Rashford is shining way more than the dude who cost 80M.”

While a fan wrote: “It only took Tuchel giving Rashford a start for men on here to realize why Barca would rather spend €50 million more on 25-year-old Gordon. Rashford is already a finished article; he’s not going to get any better than what you’re seeing.”
