England managed to confirm their progression to the next round of the World Cup, in which they will face Mexico, after their victory over DR Congo; however, fans were not pleased with the performance and are demanding that changes be made to the squad.

As seen in England’s player ratings, the majority of the squad struggled with only Harry Kane being able to hold his head high after netting a brace to help them beat the African nation.

It was a historic win for the Three Lions as they managed to bring an end to an unwanted 60-year World Cup record.

Thomas Tuchel has some important decisions to make for the next round, as it appeared that Declan Rice continued to struggle with injury at the end of the match while John Stones returned to action, and there may be a need to replace those that struggled throughout the DR Congo clash.

While many supporters wanted to see Marcus Rashford start the rest of England’s World Cup fixtures over Anthony Gordon after his performance against Panama, there has now been a call for this decision to be reversed.

Fans took to social media to let their thoughts be known on the need for the Barcelona star to replace the Manchester United player, particularly after Gordon assisted both of Kane’s goals.

One wrote: “Gordon got to start the next game, like, so direct when he came on, exactly what we need, constantly looking to get the ball into Kane.”

Another said: “Ole's Rashy got an England start today, yet Gordon has earned his stripes again within 30 mins with 2 assists.”

While a supporter added: “Kane had to do a lot for those goals. But yeah, Gordon should start next game. Rashy looked too passive today.”

Bukayo Saka is another player that fans have demanded be involved in the next round against Mexico, to replace Noni Madueke on the right wing.

One fan said: “Have to start with Gordon and Saka to support Kane. Stones absolutely at CB, please.”

Keep the three at the back. Drop konsa, Spence and Noni.

Start Gordon and Saka and Eze now.

Another supporter wrote: “I’d start Gordon and Saka. I think Rashford and Madueke are better off the bench anyway for England.”

While there was a fan that added: “Rice should play at right back and Mainoo into midfield. Saka has to start instead of Madueke.”

The final change that England fans want to see to the England side is the addition of John Stones at centre back; this may be to help cover the injuries at right back.

One fan said: “Mainoo, Stones, Saka, and Rogers have to start against Mexico. Anderson, Spence, Madueke, and Rashford are out. Maybe calls for Trafford instead of Pickford or even Dean Henderson. Need experience in the back along with a midfielder that has control and composure.”

Another added: “Tuchel should start Konsa at RB and Stones/Guehi at CB vs Mexico.”

With a final comment simply reading: “We must start Stones next game.”
