Kawasaki regained their lead when Yuto Ozeki scored just before the break. Akihiro Ienaga made it 3-1 in the 76th minute.
Al Nassr's Ayman Yahya reduced the deficit three minutes from time and as the tie headed into extra-time, Ronaldo had a huge opportunity to equalise when he was put through on goal.
Former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte won a header from a long ball to put the 40-year-old in.
Ronaldo rounded the goalkeeper but failed to slot home.

After the final whistle, a video emerged of the superstar forward 'talking to himself' as he seemingly tried to make sense of the result.
Ronaldo issued a statement on social media in the wake of his side's AFC Champions League elimination.
"Sometimes the dream has to wait. I’m proud of this team and everything we gave on the pitch," he wrote on X.

The AFC Champions League still eludes the Real Madrid legend, who has failed to win the competition since his transfer to Al Nassr.
He has only won the Arab Club Champions Cup during his time at Al Nassr.
Ronaldo's side return to action next Wednesday when they face Al Ittihad in a Saudi Pro League fixture.
