Thiago Silva aims savage dig at Anthony Taylor after watching Chelsea lose to Man City

Chelsea fell to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Thiago Silva appeared to aim a dig at referee Anthony Taylor after Chelsea’s defeat against Manchester City.

On Sunday afternoon, City’s Premier League title defence got off to the perfect start after they beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic were enough to seal a 2-0 win for Pep Guardiola’s men.

In the second half, Chelsea were denied a penalty after the ball hit Kovacic’s arm before going behind for a corner.

After the match, former Chelsea captain Silva appeared to aim a dig at referee Taylor after he commented under an Instagram post about the decision.

He wrote: “Anthonyyyyyyyyyyyyyy”, alongside a crying laughing emoji, two eyes emojis and a waving hand.

Two years ago, Silva was left fuming after Taylor failed to spot Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero pulling Marc Cucurella's hair before Spurs’ late equaliser.

Taking to social media at the time, Silva posted a screenshot of the incident with a caption that read: “Haven’t you seen this? No way. Can you pull hair out?”

Speaking after the match, new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca said: “I thought our performance was good. We don’t like to lose but I thought the performance was there. We competed against the best team in the world and we competed for large parts at the same level and in some moments were even better.

“We created chances and I think the big difference between us and them was especially in the box and the way they managed the ball in the last parts of the game but they are masters at that.”

He added: “Overall, I think our performance was quite good. I think today we were better than the last game, against Inter Milan, and I think that this is the most important thing – to improve game-by-game.

“For me, it is very clear that we are improving and the direction is the right direction. I said the other day that I didn’t expect the team to already be this [far] ahead so the direction is a good one and I don’t have any doubt that day by day we are getting better and we are going to have days where we win games and we will be happier.”
