Thiago Silva has replied to a Chelsea fan who said the Brazilian should be dropped after the Blues’ defeat by Nottingham Forest.

Heading into this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Chelsea were hoping to build on their 3-0 win over Luton Town.

However, Stamford Bridge was stunned as Anthony Elanga’s goal sealed a shock 1-0 win for Forest.

After the match, a frustrated Chelsea fan took to social media to declare his views.

The fan said: “This won’t go down well, but I think it’s time to drop Thiago Silva. Playing him is becoming a problem because we have to play a back five to shoehorn him in.

“Playing four at the back will allow us to be better going forward, and I don’t think we’ll suffer much at the back. Nothing but respect to Thiago, but I think we’d be better off without him at the minute.”

In response to the fan’s opinion, Silva replied: “If you look closely at the game, we are playing with a line of four my friend!

“But there's no problem in assuming that I'm also responsible for the defeat. Put the pressure on me no problem yesterday!”

Despite yet another record breaking transfer window, in which Chelsea broke the British transfer record to bring in Moises Caicedo, it has been a tough start for new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

After the match, Pochettino said: “In this type of game, I think it would help us to be more mature and to feel the competition. It is not enough to have quality but you need to compete in a different way to match their aggressivity, energy and desire," he told reporters.

“They didn't create many chances. We conceded because of our mistake. Disappointed because it was a game that should be a win but we need to be more clinical in front of the goal. We didn't score and that is why we didn't win.”

Chelsea will be back in Premier League action against Bournemouth on September 17.
