New footage of the Chelsea squad lifting the Club World Cup trophy while standing alongside U.S. President Donald Trump has emerged as the Blues’ players have their say on the odd situation.
Enzo Maresca’s side were crowned Club World Cup champions on Sunday as Cole Palmer’s brace and Joao Pedro’s strike saw the Premier League side finish as 3-0 winners against an off-the-pace PSG.
And aside from the entertaining on-pitch action, there were several points of conversation during the aftermath of Chelsea’s triumph.
Pedro, 23, and PSG boss Luis Enrique became embroiled in a physical altercation following the final whistle, with both speaking out after the exchange.

But that was not all.
In a bizarre turn of events, Trump, 79, who watched the match alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino, was front and centre while Chelsea skipper Reece James lifted the Club World Cup trophy after his side’s victory.
Several players, including James, 25, and Palmer, 23, appeared confused as to why Trump was standing on the podium while Chelsea celebrated.
Footage later emerged – see below – which appeared to show Infantino trying to guide Trump away from the celebrations but ultimately failing to do so.

“It’s a big thing [competition], Gianni’s a friend of mine,” Trump told DAZN.
“But it’s great to watch.
“This is a little bit of an upset we’re watching today. [FIFA has done] fantastically well, it’s a growing sport, it’s a great sport.”
And after the game, a number of Chelsea players gave their thoughts on Trump.

When asked about what was said between him and Trump, James said: “To be honest, it was quite loud. I couldn't hear too much. He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment.”

Meanwhile, Palmer admitted he was confused by the whole thing.
"I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy,” said Palmer.

“I was a bit confused, yeah."
Centre-back Levi Colwill added: “They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay.”
