Chelsea Fans in Disbelief at Cole Palmer Comment on Romeo Lavia's Instagram Post

Palmer's comment has gone viral.

Cole Palmer is going viral again after the Chelsea forward reacted to Romeo Lavia’s latest social media post, which included an AI-generated video of the England international.

Palmer has a history of commenting on Lavia's Instagram. Back in December 2024, the Belgian midfielder asked his followers on the picture-sharing platform to think of a caption for his latest post.

Wesley Fofana and Malo Gusto would tell their Chelsea teammate to "calm" after he tagged manager Enzo Maresca in one of the pictures, but it was Palmer's comment that went viral.

The 23-year-old, clearly amused by the fact Lavia had mentioned his manager, wrote: "Why you taggin the gaffa like he gna follow you??"

You could say Palmer's comment was revenge for the message Lavia wrote on his match ball following Chelsea's 4-2 win over Brighton in September last year.

After becoming the first player in Premier League history to score four goals in the first half of a match, Palmer posted a picture of the ball, which featured the following message from Lavia: "You're a mid player regardless."

More than a year later and Palmer's activity on Lavia's Instagram has once again become a talking point.

As seen in the post below, Lavia posted an AI-generated video of Cole Palmer, Tosin Adarabioyo and several members of Chelsea's backroom staff celebrating a goal on the Stamford Bridge bench.

Palmer simply replied to the post by saying: "R u high?" – a comment that has since received almost 16,000 likes. Tosin Adarabioyo also responded to Palmer, saying: "He's not alright."

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the comments.

One said: "This is getting ridiculous. I've never seen a best friendship like this. Palmer would unironically veto if we ever consider selling Tosin," while another wrote: "Looks like they are doing The DX suck it taunt."

A third added: "I love the vibes Lavia brings."

Away from the comments section and Palmer has previously praised Lavia's ability. Speaking to SPORTbible last year, he claimed the midfielder would eventually prove his quality to everyone once fit.

“One person I’ve played with [who is good] is Romeo Lavia," he told us in June 2024. "We’ve not seen him this season because he’s been injured for a full year but I think he’s one that, when he gets playing everyone will think, ‘Oh, he’s really good’”.

Lavia has featured in two Premier League games for Chelsea this season, including their 2-1 win over Liverpool at the start of October.
