Cole Palmer took his stock at Chelsea to new heights with a match-winning performance in the FIFA Club World Cup final this week.
Palmer has quickly become Chelsea's star man since his £42 million move from Manchester City in 2023, embracing his role as chief creator at Stamford Bridge and breaking into the England squad.
He played a key role in England's U21 Euros win that year before registering 42 goal contributions in his debut Chelsea campaign. That earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and a place in England's Euro 2024 squad, which saw him score in the final defeat to Spain in Berlin.
Despite a little slow-down in form last season, Palmer ended the campaign strongly to provide two assists in the UEFA Conference League final and then run the show in New York as Chelsea stunned PSG in last weekend's Club World Cup final.

Palmer was the face of Chelsea's final build-up with a billboard in Times Square and a photoshoot above the Rockefeller Centre. He was awarded the Club World Cup Golden Ball after the final demolition of PSG, which saw him have a brief chat with US President Donald Trump.
His 'Cold Palmer' nickname is now a worldwide moniker but he now has another name given to him by Chelsea teammates due to his performances on the biggest stages.
Speaking before the Club World Cup final, Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo told reporters: "I've known Cole since he was a young boy so even me seeing him on those big banners makes me very, very proud," said Tosin. "I think people do forget that he's still 22, 23 years of age and he's one of the faces of this tournament.

"His life has changed in the past two years. As banter sometimes, I call him like a little superstar. But he handles it very well. He knows he’s focused his career on football.”
Now unmistakably one of the world's top talents, Palmer will be looking to prove Adarabioyo right when he returns to the Champions League this season with Chelsea, a competition he won in 2023 with Manchester City.
