Back in 2012, Chelsea made a historic triple signing when they acquired three brothers from Luton Town.

The Dasilvas, made up of 12-year-old twins Rio and Cole, as well as 13-year-old brother Jay, were snapped up by the Blues in January 2012 after spending five years in the academy set-up at Luton.

Despite their ages, the trio of siblings commanded a five-figure transfer fee and at the time Luton predicted the total figure would eclipse £1 million if they were to make the grade at Chelsea.

Gregg Broughton, the club's head of youth at the time, said the Hatters were "delighted that they have found a club where they are settled" after wishing to explore options elsewhere.

But what happened to the brothers, who had so much hype at such a young age? Despite the promise they had displayed, unfortunately neither of the trident made a first-team appearance for Chelsea.

Rio and Cole both played in the same youth side as future England internationals Declan Rice, Mason Mount and Eddie Nketiah and ended up changing positions.

Rio was the first to leave the Blues, having been released at the end of a season with the Under 15's and stopping playing for a short period.

Cole stayed put however and had a productive time with Chelsea's youth side, playing as a full-back and winning the UEFA Youth League, FA Youth Cup and Under 18 Premier League.

He signed a professional contract in 2016 but ended up being released two years later, signing for Brentford's B team before ending up at HNK Sibenik in Croatia and dropping down to Non League with stints at Oxford City, Hemel Hempstead Town, Royston Town, Biggleswade Town, Bedford Town and current club Bishop's Stortford.

Both he and Rio are playing at the same level, with his twin turning out for Barton Rovers in the Southern League First Division Central.

Undoubtedly it is Jay who has been the most successful of the siblings. Although he didn't make the grade at Stamford Bridge, his impressive youth career saw him win three FA Youth Cups and two UEFA Youth Leagues.

Loaned out to Charlton and Bristol City, he went on to sign permanently for the latter and established himself as one of the best left-backs in the Championship.

He currently plies his trade with Coventry City, where he's made 55 appearances.

A regular for England at various youth levels, Dasilva made the switch to Wales and has been capped twice by the country, who he is eligible to play for through his grandfather.
