Kate Abdo was forced to issue a public apology to her husband Malik Scott after making an embarrassing mistake live on CBS Sports.

The Champions League returned for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday and Wednesday night, with the biggest clubs in Europe competing for their first matches in the new format.

And of course, with the return of the European tournament, came the return of the beloved CBS Sports coverage hosted by Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards.

However, while hosting the coverage after Wednesday night's matches, Abdo was forced to issue a public apology to her husband Malik Scott for a mistake she made live on air.

As she welcomed viewers for Wednesday's Champions League post-match show, the CBS presenter mistakenly used her maiden name Abdo when introducing herself, instead of her new husband's surname, Scott.

As soon as she mentioned her maiden name, Scott began stumbling over her words in embarrassment and covered her face with her hands as co-presenters Carragher, Henry and Richards all started laughing at her mistake.

She immediately apologised to her husband, American boxing trainer Scott, as Carragher pointed out that this mistake was worse than when she accidentally mistakenly introduced the show as Fox Sports instead of CBS.

Abdo and Scott reportedly began dating in December 2023 but waited until March the following year to officially go public with their relationship.

Six months later, the two got married in a private and intimate wedding ceremony held in California.

Posting photos of the wedding on Instagram, Abdo wrote: "Thank you God for this gift.

"Thank you @malikkingscott for changing my life. For bringing love, happiness, fulfilment, peace and joy, all in abundance. It is my greatest blessing to be your wife.

"I want to love, sing, dance and laugh with you forever. A lifelong journey with you is everything I pray for.

"It’s you and our family always. ❤️"

In his own post, Scott added: "Thank you God.🙏🏾 My Vows will be lived out until the end of my time.

"The most perfect day of my life was our wedding day. Words cant describe how much I love you.❤️ Multiple days down and forever to go.❤️"
