Jamie Carragher says he wants to launch an official complaint to UEFA over a frustrating issue with the Champions League.

We're now at the business end of European football's top club competition.

Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund booked their spots in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday night with dramatic wins in their respective quarter-finals.

PSG came from behind to beat 10-man Barcelona 4-1 in their second leg to progress 6-4 on aggregate, while Dortmund won 4-2 in Germany to seal a 5-4 aggregate victory.

They could be joined in the last four by Premier League sides Manchester City and Arsenal, who play their quarter-final second legs on Wednesday night.

Arsenal drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich last Tuesday, while defending champions City were held to a 3-3 draw by Real Madrid.

Speaking on Wednesday ahead of the second legs, CBS Sports pundit Micah Richards flagged a major issue with the last eight of the tournament.

"Can we just say, last night was terrific. One of the best nights of Champions League I think we've had. The only negative – and I don't want to put a negative on it – is that both matches were played at the same time," said Richards.

To which presenter Kate Abdo replied: "Do we want to lodge an official complaint?"

Former Liverpool defender Carragher then added: "Yes. We need to speak to UEFA don't we?"

"We're big friends with UEFA though aren't we?," replied Richards.

To which Carragher joked: "Very big friends."

Like Tuesday's matches, Arsenal and City's games on Wednesday were also scheduled for the same start time to the frustration of viewers in the UK.

The Daily Mail has revealed the reason why the two English sides were forced to play on the same day.

Due to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid both being drawn at home in their respective ties, it was decided that their fixture scheduling would be prioritised due to policing concerns.
