Harry Kane set a new Champions League record following his strike for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid.

Bayern and Real played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in their semi-final first leg tie on Tuesday.

Toni Kroos, who was booed with every touch of the ball, played a sublime pass to Vinicius Junior, who made no mistake in front of goal to open the scoring at the Allianz Arena.

But the hosts turned the game on its head in four blistering minutes as Leroy Sane levelled proceedings before his side won a penalty.

Jamal Musiala was bundled over in the box, with Kane coolly converting the resulting penalty despite Jude Bellingham's dart arts.

He sent Andriy Lunin the wrong way to bring up his eighth goal in this season's Champions League campaign and 43rd goal across all competitions.

He now has 11 goal involvements in the Champions League this season - which is a record for an English player in a single campaign.

David Beckham had 10 goal involvements for Manchester United in the 1998/99 season while Steven Gerrard also boasted 10 goal involvements in the 2007/08 term.

But Kane has surpassed Beckham and Gerrard for the most goal involvements for an English player in a single Champions League campaign.

He has eight goals and three assists to his name.

Vinicius Jr cancelled out the England's captain's goal as he slotted home an 83rd minute penalty.
