Fans were left shocked at the reception Toni Kroos received upon returning to Bayern Munich with Real Madrid.

Kroos was booed with every touch of the ball in tonight's Champions League semi-final first leg tie in Germany.

It comes after he spent six glorious seasons at the club, winning three Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in the 2012/13 campaign.

But the Real star was jeered when he got on the ball and silenced the home crowd following his sublime assist for Vinicius Junior, who made no mistake in front of goal.

The ruthless boos aimed at Kroos surprised fans on social media.

One X user wrote: "Bayern fans are lame af for booing Kroos."

A second tweeted: "Bayern fans booing Kroos is cringe."

A third added: "Why are they booing Kroos? smh."

A fourth said: "Kroos is just incredible, he’s got this stadium booing him and how does he shut them up? By playing an inch perfect pass - right through the heart of Bayern."

A fifth commented: "Lol Bayern supporters are still booing Kroos after so many years."

Kroos left Bayern for Real in the summer of 2014 and has been an integral part of the club's success over the years.

He's helped the Spanish giants win three La Liga titles and an impressive four Champions League titles.
