Chelsea fans ruthlessly singled out one player following their bruising defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Chelsea returned to the Champions League following their fourth-placed finish in the Premier League last season.

But they opened their 2025/26 campaign with a crushing 3-1 defeat to Bayern on Wednesday.

The Bundesliga champions opened the scoring when Trevoh Chalobah converted into his own net in the 20th minute.

Harry Kane doubled his side's advantage from the spot before Cole Palmer reduced the deficit with a stunning finish.

But Kane restored Bayern's two-goal advantage when he curled home a terrific strike just after the hour mark.

It wasn't quite the start Chelsea had hoped for as Enzo Maresca tasted defeat in his first Champions League game of his managerial career.

Chelsea fans on social media made their feelings known as they took aim at Alejandro Garnacho, who replaced Pedro Neto in the 67th minute.

Garnacho entered the fray with his team two goals down and failed to inspire a comeback.

He was largely ineffective as supporters bemoaned his cameo in Germany.

One X user wrote: "I don’t think Garnacho has made 1 forward pass since he came on. Back pass merchant."

A second said: "Nobody has the weakest shot outside the box ever than Garnacho... that guy shoots like a back pass."

A third added: "I’m trying to find positives for Garnacho but he’s just not good man."

Another predicted: "Garnacho will be in Saudi Arabia within the next 24 months."

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United in a deal worth £40 million during the summer transfer window.

He made his debut in last weekend's 2-2 draw at Brentford and could feature when the Blues resume their Premier League campaign on Saturday against Man United.
