Barcelona were heavily criticised by Spanish media following their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea as Marcus Rashford was given a brutal rating.

Barca slumped to their second Champions League defeat of the season after being smashed by Chelsea, who ran out 3-0 winners at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The Premier League side went ahead when Jules Kounde converted into his own net in the 27th minute.

Estevao doubled his side's lead in the second-half with a moment of magic and gave a brilliant post-match interview with Amazon Prime reporter Alex Aljoe after the game.

Barca entered the Champions League clash having scored four goals in each of their La Liga victories over Celta Vigo and Athletic Bilbao.

But the Catalan giants weren't at the races as the likes of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Rashford failed to get going against Chelsea.

The visitors were wasteful in the final third, with Ferran Torres missing a gilt-edged chance in the opening minutes when the match was goalless.

And the Spanish media pulled no punches in their assessment of Hansi Flick's team.

SPORT called it a 'disastrous' defeat and 'a day to forget'.

The outlet were unforgiving as they dished out a series of ruthless ratings, including a pair of '4s' for Lewandowski and Yamal, who were both largely ineffective against Chelsea.

On Yamal, they said: "He started bright and electric, but faded along with the rest of the team far too quickly. Isolated and invisible for long stretches. It wasn't his day (or almost anyone's)."

Rashford was also subjected to harsh criticism even though he started the game on the bench and was also given a rating of 4.

On the Manchester United loanee's second-half showing, SPORT wrote: "He came on with one less player and couldn't act as an agitator. He was neither seen nor sacrificed in defence."

Mundo Deportivo also delivered a stinging assessment, claiming that Chelsea could have had 'even more' goals, while AS dubbed the outing a 'nightmare' - with both newspapers lamenting the result that leaves them in 15th place in the standings.

Local outlet L'Esportiu labelled Barcelona as 'tight-fisted' and claimed that the club had offered 'a very poor version, (made) Chelsea's job easier, and (made) it very difficult to finish in the top eight'.
