The Spanish media have made a big statement on Carlo Ancelotti following Real Madrid's shocking 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League.

On Tuesday night, Arsenal welcomed reigning Champions League title holders Real Madrid to London for the first leg of their highly-anticipated Champions League quarter final clash.

To the surprise of many, the Gunners thrashed the European giants, beating them 3-0 after two stunning free kicks from Declan Rice were followed up by tidy finish from Mikel Merino.

In response to the massive result, the Spanish media have spoken out to make their feelings about Madrid manager Ancelotti, and they're not happy.

Having won an incredible 15 trophies with Los Blancos, including three Champions Leagues, Ancelotti has cemented himself as a true legend of the iconic club.

But Tuesday's loss appears to have significantly impacted his reputation, as some members of the Spanish media have placed the blame for the embarrassing result on the Italian boss.

Reacting to the match, Spanish Marca newspaper wrote: "The captain of the shipwreck. He saw what was coming, but he didn't see it.

"He couldn't get the team out of the stagnation and the pressure Arsenal had put them in from the opening whistle. The substitutions didn't help.

"The game demanded decisions with the heavyweights, and they once again played for easy decisions."

"Madrid was a toy in the hands of an Arsenal side that battered them from start to finish."

Fellow Spanish Newspaper El Mundo labelled the game 'one of Ancelotti's worst nights for Real Madrid,' in a series of scathing reports, writing: "London was Real Madrid's grave. I've never seen a Real Madrid team make such a fool of itself in the Champions League; an embarrassment.

"I don't know what Ancelotti 's fans in the press will say. The truth is, they've deflated like the bubbles in the champagne of success. How long has Ancelotti been Real Madrid's number one enemy?

"If Real Madrid hooligans still dream of a comeback, it's because they believe in miracles. It won't happen because Ancelotti's Real Madrid is a mirror image of the devil who has been punished by hell. Anyone could be ashamed of this team. What a Real Madrid."

Ancelotti will have the chance to led his side to a highly-impressive comeback when Arsenal travel to the Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg of the quarter final next week.
