Barcelona could be about to get a new kit supplier, they're 'not happy with Nike'

The Catalan giants are eyeing up a new kits supplier.

Barcelona have been supplied by American kit supplier Nike for 25 years - but that partnership could be coming to an end due to the Catalan giants becoming unhappy with the partnership.

Nike have made the kits for the Camp Nou side since 1998 and there is a contract in place to do so which runs until 2028.

If this runs to its entirety, it means Nike will have made the kits for Barca for exactly 30 years.

The supplier has provided the strips for the Camp Nou side and have made some of the most iconic kits which have been donned by some of the greatest players ever to grace the game.

From the centenary shirt of 1999, to the ones from the mid-noughties worn by the likes of Ronaldinho, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi, the strips donned by such teams mean Nike will always feel synonymous with Barcelona.

The Catalan club's current deal with Nike is among the most lucrative in world football, with it bringing in a minimum of €100m (£85million) a season and having the potential to top €155m (£132million) with bonuses every 12 months.

However, since the current deal was signed in 2018, Spanish publication Sport have claimed that the hierarchy of Barcelona are not entirely satisfied with the products they have received from Nike. Meanwhile they reportedly also want to renegotiate the deal, as they feel it has undervalued the club's worth.

The Spanish publication reports that both New Balance and Puma are among the alternative kit suppliers on the cards who are interested in supplying the Catalan club.

It remains to be seen if Barca do end up renegotiating their Nike deal and remain with their long-time kit supplier.

But if they cannot and end up parting from Nike, either prematurely or at the end of their current contract in 2028, it seems they will have no shortage of potential suitors to fill the gap.
