Fans in stitches after seeing what Espanyol did immediately after Barcelona won the title in their ground

Barcelona clinched the La Liga title after beating local rivals Espanyol.

Espanyol left many fans stunned after what they did following Barcelona's victory at the RCDE Stadium.

After Real Madrid's last-gasp win over Mallorca on Wednesday night kept the La Liga title race alive, Barcelona knew a victory against Espanyol would seal the deal.

The match was marred by a horrible incident that took place outside the RCDE Stadium ahead of kick-off.

In footage uploaded to social media, it was seen that several fans were knocked out by a vehicle.

It was later reported by Spanish football expert Guillem Balague that four people had been seriously injured and had been taken to the hospital, along with a further nine injuries.

However, the Barcelona players produced a professional display as they came away 2-0 winners thanks to second-half goals from Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez.

As the final whistle sounded, Barcelona players flooded onto their rivals' pitch to celebrate the club's 28th title, rubbing salt into the wounds of Espanyol fans.

Things immediately got heated as Gerard Martin appeared to push Pere Milla to the floor.

All this happened amid Barcelona manager Hansi Flick gesturing for his players to return to the dressing room as soon as the match ended.

In the midst of Barcelona's celebrations, the sprinklers were turned on in what was a desperate bid to encourage the visitors to return to the dressing room.

However, the likes of Alejandro Balde, Pau Victor, Andreas Christensen and Dani Olmo were all seen dancing around as the water sprayed.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Espanyol turned on the sprinklers, but the Barcelona players turned it into a vibe..."

Another tweeted: "Anyone see Espanyol put on the water sprinklers to get the Barca players."

A third fan added: "Elite s***housery!!"

This comes two years after Barcelona won the La Liga title in the same stadium, but were then chased off the pitch by Espanyol ultras as they celebrated the title.

After the match, Flick said: "I know what the situation is with respect to what happened two years ago and I wanted to celebrate it inside."
