Unai Emery Tipped to Leave Aston Villa And Walk Straight Into Top Premier League Job

Aston Villa currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League table.

Unai Emery has been tipped to leave Aston Villa in the near future if another Premier League club comes calling.

Villa have not won any of their opening five matches and sit in 18th place in the table.

They have scored just one goal during that time - Matty Cash's second-half strike in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland.

For the second transfer window in a row, Villa were forced to be cautious with their spending due to Premier League PSR regulations.

They did complete loan deals for Liverpool's Harvey Elliott and Manchester United's Jadon Sancho on deadline day - with Elliott set to join permanently next summer if he plays five games - but sold academy graduate Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle.

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez attempted to push for a late move to Manchester United but was ultimately unsuccessful.

Sporting director Monchi has now left the club and has been replaced by Real Sociedad's Roberto Olabe - who has a close relationship with Emery.

Still, the Spaniard is now at something of a crossroads for the first time during his spell at Villa, having propelled them from mid-table to regular European football contenders on a relatively low budget.

His success means that the Spaniard is not under pressure at this stage, and former Villans striker Stan Collymore believes that another Premier League club - Manchester United - could soon approach him to join them, if they part company with Ruben Amorim.

On Emery's future, Collymore wrote on Twitter: "He [Emery]'s not of our neck of the woods, he'll have suitors in Spain, probably one or two big Italian clubs.

"And should United be serious about change then they'll have a sniff too, why wouldn't they, they can offer almost unlimited resources to back up what Villa did last season with multiple seasons of serious cash support.

"The next 48 hours [Villa play Bologna in the Europa League on Thursday] will tell everything. If he's bullish and he wants to stay, you'll see it as he's a straight talker.

"If he doesn't look at the camera, fidgets with his ear and doesn't answer 'do you see your long term at Villa?' then the owners and the new recruitment guy need to get a list together quickly in case he exits sooner or end of season. Hope for the best, plan for the worst."
