Viktor Gyokeres receives special gift from Arsenal after signing for club as he makes request to teammate

Viktor Gyokeres issued a plea to his new teammate following his move to Arsenal.

Viktor Gyokeres received a special gift from Arsenal upon landing in England as he made a request to his new teammate.

Arsenal have paid a guaranteed £55 million to recruit Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

He has been given the iconic No.14 shirt - which was worn by Thierry Henry - and he's already broken a club record without even kicking a ball for his new team.

The Swede has since joined the squad in Asia for their pre-season tour, with the Gunners returning to action on Thursday.

But before he travelled to Asia, Gyokeres underwent his medical and completed the necessary formalities at Arsenal's training base in London.

He flew to England on a private jet, flanked by his agent Hasan Cetinkaya, who brokered the deal.

And as soon as he touched down, he was greeted by sporting director Andrea Berta, who presented the star forward with a special gift.

The box contained a personalised Arsenal shirt as well as a message from club captain Martin Odegaard.

After reading his letter, Gyokeres asked Odegaard for some assists, saying: "Only thing I need is some assists."

When will Viktor Gyokeres make his Arsenal debut?

The 27-year-old has arrived in Asia, where he has linked up with his teammates.

He could make his first appearance for his new team when they resume their pre-season against cross-city rivals Tottenham on Thursday.

If Gyokeres doesn't feature against Spurs, then he will likely get some minutes under his belt when Arsenal return home to face Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao.

Considering the nature of his transfer, he is expected to lead the line when Mikel Arteta's team open their Premier League campaign against Manchester United on August 17.

Viktor Gyokeres: 'I can't wait to score goals for Arsenal'

Gyokeres enjoyed an ultra-prolific two-year spell with Sporting following his switch from Coventry City.

He scored an impressive 97 goals in 102 games, including a haul of 54 goals across all competitions last season.

And he can't wait to score goals for Arsenal.

"I always want to score," he said. "To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can't wait. It will be an amazing feeling.

"I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I've improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team.

"It's a big honour to play for your country, and then to score goals for them is amazing. When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well. Now to come here to a club on Arsenal's level, I think it's going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I'm really excited to get going."
