Aaron Ramsdale risked angering Arsenal teammates when naming the best outfield player he'd played with

Aaron Ramsdale has named the best outfield player he has played with - and it's not an Arsenal player

Aaron Ramsdale once named the best player he has played with in both club and international football - and it's not an Arsenal player.

The 25-year-old has endured a difficult 2023/24 campaign so far, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta preferring David Raya in goal for the Gunners currently.

With just five Premier League appearances to his name this season, Ramsdale has dropped out of the limelight for the Arsenal faithful, with the club currently eyeing another title race as they sit in second place, just one point behind Liverpool in first.

However, the England international has been thrust back into conversations amongst the fanbase after an appearance on Ben Foster's 'Fozcast', which was recorded last year, recently resurfaced.

Speaking on the podcast with the former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion shot-stopper, Ramsdale was asked who the best player he has played with is.

Ramsdale replied honestly, and his response may anger some Arsenal fans. He said: "It's supposed to be quick fire this isn't it. I give it to Phil Foden, yeah."

The decision may anger those within the fanbase, who may want Ramsdale to name some of the Arsenal players amongst the squad such as Bukayo Saka, William Saliba or Martin Odegaard.

Both Ramsdale and Foden have featured in Gareth Southgate's latest plans, as the England boss looks ahead to the upcoming European Championships in Germany next summer.

If Ramsdale is to solidify himself within the national team, he may need to make a decision in the upcoming January transfer window regarding his future at the Emirates Stadium, with Raya once again being the preferred option in goal as Arsenal faced Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

Both Chelsea and Newcastle United have suffered injuries to their first choice goalkeepers in recent weeks, which could provide Ramsdale with an avenue to secure regular first team minutes in the near future.
