Alex Iwobi has shared shocking footage of the hotel that the Nigerian national team are staying in ahead of their World Cup playoff match.

After the 11th round of fixtures, the Premier League and the other top leagues across Europe will take a break to allow players to compete in international fixtures in the coming week.

For many teams, the international break will offer them the chance to seal qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which is set to be held across the United States of America, Canada and Mexico next summer.

One of these countries is Nigeria, who will face Gabon in a play-off semi-final, with the winners facing either Cameroon or the Democratic Republic of the Congo to secure a place at the World Cup.

But ahead of the match kicking off, star player Iwobi has shared footage of the team hotel on social media, and it's not exactly luxurious.

With the African Cup of Nations set to get underway at the end of this year, the Confederation of African Football will host their World Cup play-offs in the coming days, earlier than other confederations.

Nigeria and Gabon will face off in the neutral territory of Morocco's Moulay Hassan Stadium on Thursday afternoon, with Cameroon and DR Congo playing in Morroco's Al-Barid Stadium later that evening.

Ahead of the first kickoff, Iwobi took to his Snapchat story to share a video of the view from his hotel room in the Morccan capital of Rabat, and it appears that he wasn't impressed.

The view shows residential homes in the Moroccan city hanging their washing out to dry from the window, before cutting to the Fulham star giving a side-eye to the camera.

Despite this, the video was initially met with some backlash on social media, with some claiming that it showed that Iwobi was ungrateful to be in a situation that allows him to represent his national team.

However, Iwobi later responded to these claims with a follow-up video posted again on his Snapchat story,

He said: "You see in life yeah? It's all about perspective. Because I snapped the view I have, people are thinking 'nah this guy is ungrateful'

"Brother, I never said one thing, I just did one look. Some people don't have yards, some people don't have beds. Bro, I'm comfy, I'm playing MarioKart!"

Iwobi has made 89 appearances for the Nigerian national team, scoring 10 goals and assisting six.
