Rio Ferdinand Backs Liverpool To Make A Sensational Move For 'Crazy' Premier League Star

Rio Ferdinand believes Liverpool should try to beat Manchester City to the signing of Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa captain Grealish has been linked with a move to City this summer and Villa are holding out for £100 million.

The 25-year-old is due for contract talks with his boyhood club later this summer and Ferdinand thinks he's a special kind of footballer.

He explained on his FIVE YouTube channel: "There aren't many breathtaking footballers around anymore who produce breathtaking moments and make you go, 'wow that was crazy'.

"Jack Grealish does that. He's just a phenomenal player. If I'm Liverpool, I'm going to get him. If I'm Man City, I'm taking him.

"Because he improves them. He improves Chelsea, 100 per cent. Whoever's got the money to pay for him, do it.

"If Liverpool bought him it would be a bolt out of the blue. He improves them and then it's like, 'wow'".

Liverpool have added Ibrahima Konate to their ranks so far this summer after being hit with defensive injuries last season.

Jurgen Klopp's side finished third but it was a poor defence of their Premier League crown.

Grealish could've joined Manchester United in the past and Ferdinand admits it's a move he'd love to see.

However, United have added Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho to their ranks over the last 18 months.

It has seen Red Devils legend Ferdinand concede a move doesn't make much sense from either side's point of view.

"I would love him to join Manchester United, obviously. But I just feel that the position that he plays is stacked," the 42-year-old said.

"Bruno [Fernandes] in a ten, [Marcus] Rashford's on the left, [Anthony] Martial is there, [Paul] Pogba is there.

"It kind of rules Manchester United out unless they say, 'no, we're going to shift a player or two to get him'."

City have recently opened negotiations for Grealish and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has said a decision could be made soon.

The Italian tweeted: "Manchester City are now in direct contact with Aston Villa for Jack Grealish. Negotiations ongoing to reach an agreement - not gonna take long, decision to be made in the next days.

"Aston Villa have already offered Grealish a new contract. They hope to keep him."

Do you think Jack Grealish will move to Manchester City?
